Knoth will Lead the Kentucky Corn & Small Grain Growers Associations

(EASTWOOD, KY) Laura Knoth, Public Affairs Division director for the Kentucky Farm Bureau, has been named executive director of the Kentucky Corn and Kentucky Small Grain Growers Associations, which serve the interests of more than 2000 grain farmers across the Commonwealth. Knoth will officially begin her responsibilities on January 4, 2010. Association leaders say her experience and environmental background will serve the organizations well.

“We are extremely pleased to have Ms. Knoth coming to work for our organization,” said Phillip McCoun, president of the Kentucky Corn Growers Association (KyCGA) and chair of the executive director search committee, “and we are fortunate
to have such a qualified candidate take us to the next chapter.”

Knoth has served as director of the Public Affairs Division for Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) since 2004, supervising KFB’s public affairs activities, including state and national lobbying, policy development programs, political education, natural resources, local affairs and commodity activities. She joined KFB in 1991 as director of natural and environmental resources, serving as a registered lobbyist and working with the Kentucky General Assembly and administrative agencies to obtain balanced and reasonable environmental policies affecting farmers. Knoth also served as a KFB area program director, from 1998 to 2003, working with county KFB offices in 12 Western Kentucky counties to coordinate member service and policy implementation programs.

Knoth, a native of Grand Rivers (Livingston Co.), Ky, is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture with an emphasis in natural resources and environmental economics.  She worked as an environmental consultant with private industry before joining Kentucky Farm Bureau.

“Having a strong focus on environmental issues is of extreme importance in today’s agricultural economy,” McCoun also said. “Ms. Knoth’s expertise in this area will serve the association well and I look forward to working with her.”

Knoth succeeds Todd Barlow, KyCGA/KySGGA executive director for the last 18 years. The search committee was made up of the officers and selected board members from both the KyCGA and KySGGA.
