Supporting our Youth Agriculture Programs

The Kentucky Corn Growers’ Association is a dedicated supporter of Kentucky agricultural youth programs.

FFA Support

KyCGA is an annual sponsor of the Kentucky FFA Convention. Our contribution provides scholarships to participants in the Grain Production Entrepreneurship contest. We have also provided past funding for much needed improvements at the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center in Hardinsburg, KY.

The 2010 winner of the Kentucky State FFA Grain Production Entrepreneurship was Tyler Greenwell, of Union Co.

 KyCGA Horses Around with 4-H

KyCGA became the proud leading sponsor of the Kentucky 4-H Horse program, ensuring agricultural opportunities for the most popular project in Kentucky 4-H. More than 5,000 Kentucky 4-Hers are enrolled in the Horse program, making it one of the highest enrolled animal projects in the nation. You would expect nothing less in the Horse Capital of the World.

Some of the many objectives of the 4-H Horse program include: developing leadership, initiative, self-reliance, sportsmanship, experiencing the pride and responsibility of owning a horse, enhancing horsemanship skills and knowledge, gain knowledge of basic safety of themselves, animals and others, promoting the greater love of animals and humane attitude toward them.

KyCGA believed connecting with the horse program provided a unique opportunity to help the kids understand the importance of agricultural industry, the industry that feeds them and their animals.

As part of the sponsorship, KyCGA was able to share promotional and education material with the 4-H members and their families to drive home the importance of the family farmer and their contributions to our world.

Supporting Youth Livestock Programs

KyCGA was a co-purchaser of the 2010 Kentucky State Fair Grand Champion Market Hog. The total sale price was $17,500. Sixty percent of the proceeds went to the animal’s exhibitor, 30 percent went to other winning hog exhibitors, and the remaining 10 percent went back to the 4-H and FFA programs. KyCGA supports this program annually.
