Connecting with Kentucky's Bourbon Industry
KyCGA
was host to more than 40 Kentucky bourbon industry representatives
in July 2010 to encourage distillers to utilize more Kentucky-grown
corn. Growers and seed representatives were on hand to discuss
market needs and quality issues.
It is estimated that about 12 million bushels of corn are consumed
by local distillers, but a substantial percentage of that corn is
grown outside Kentucky borders. The distilleries’ grain buyers told
the group that the corn must meet specific standards and have
certain quality characteristics.
KyCGA is committed to working with this specialized industry that
provides a unique marketing opportunity for our Kentucky growers.
