Producer
Education
The Kentucky Corn Growers
Association works to bring educational opportunities to its
grower members. We accomplish this by coordinating resources
and events, as well as, supporting events of other
institutions and agencies.
Kentucky Grain
Crops Academy
In May of 2007 the Kentucky
Corn Growers Association received more than $35,000 from the
Kentucky Agricultural Development Board to assist the
University of Kentucky to conduct an educational program for
grain producers across the state. The new “Grain Crops
Academy” will be used to increase Kentucky grain producers’
knowledge and management skills to enhance farm enterprise
profitability, give them the skills needed to allow them to
capitalize on new emerging grain and biofuel markets, and
help minimize agriculture’s environmental impact on rural
Kentucky.

Crops Academy.
National Education
Programs
KyCGA helps support the
following education initiatives by providing funds to the
National Corn Growers Association:
Each January, the KyCGA,
along with the Kentucky Small Grains Growers Association and
Kentucky Soybean Associations, hosts the
Kentucky Commodity
Conference. This conference includes each association's
annual meeting of membership and several learning sessions
focused on hot farming issues.

Past Producer Education Projects

In 2005, KyCGA held a series of
corn production seminars - "Maximizing Corn Profits" with MC
Agronomics (John McGillacuddy and Karen Corrigan). More than
200 total KyCGA grower members attended the four events.
KyCGA thanks our hosts and financial supporters that helped
make the events possible: Major Brothers Farms, Dan Ellison
Farms & Mayfield Grain, Sprague Brothers Farms, and Luttrell
Farms & Miles Seed.
KyCGA provided funding for the
publication of the University of Kentucky Extension Book -
