Commonwealth Agri-Energy Celebrates Ethanol Plant
Grand Opening
(June
2004) - On Thursday, June 17, several hundred people helped
celebrate the grand opening of
Commonwealth Agri-Energy, ethanol plant of Hopkinsville
Elevator and the Kentucky Corn Growers Association. Mick
Henderson (pictured right), CAE general manager, was one of
the first to thank the many project supporters and tell the
tale of the plant’s initial success. Other speakers included
Hopkinsville Elevator’s Jimmy Doss, Pete Johnson of the
Delta Regional Authority, Senator Joey Pendleton and
Agricultural Commissioner Richie Farmer.
CAE, along with Pain Enterprises, also celebrated the
ground breaking of a dry ice plant that will capture the
60,000 pounds of CO 2
created from annual ethanol production. Construction
completion is slated for early 2005.
Even though ethanol is moving well, Henderson said his
main focus is moving distiller’s grains, another ethanol
co-product.
